As a photographer, there’s something truly special about witnessing the journey of a family—from the excitement of a maternity session to the joy of welcoming a newborn. Recently, I had the honor of photographing a beautiful family as they navigated this exciting chapter of their lives. It all began with a maternity session that was full of magic, and then the arrival of their baby boy, who stole everyone’s heart during his newborn session.
The maternity shoot was pure magic. The soft glow of the mom-to-be, radiating love and anticipation, set the perfect tone. Her belly, the symbol of hope and joy, and it was clear that the family was eagerly awaiting the arrival of their baby boy. The big sister, full of excitement, couldn’t wait to be part of the photos. She was already talking about how she would help with her baby brother and was all smiles as she placed her little hands on her mom’s belly.
In moments like these, you can truly feel the love and connection between the family members. The parents shared a beautiful, quiet love for each other, knowing their lives were about to change forever. The big sister was already creating a bond with her baby brother, even before he was born, and it was such a beautiful thing to capture. One of my favorite Kamloops spots not far from the studio!!
Fast forward a few weeks, and I had the joy of meeting the new baby boy. The moment he arrived for his newborn session, I knew it would be something truly special. He was tiny, with the sweetest features and a peaceful aura that made him seem like a little angel. His big sister, who was so eager to meet him, was there by his side, and the love between them was instant.
Newborn sessions are magical in their own way. They capture the pure innocence and beauty of a new life. There is something so precious about those first few weeks, and it's a true privilege to freeze those fleeting moments in time. From the baby’s tiny fingers to the sweet yawns and stretches, every little detail is a reminder of how quickly time passes.
The big sister was so gentle with her baby brother, carefully holding his little hands and showering him with sweet kisses. She was already protective of him, eager to be the best big sister she could be. Those moments between the siblings, full of curiosity and love, were a photographer’s dream. I could already see the lifelong bond they would share.
What I love most about these sessions is the chance to capture a family’s love story—from the first moments of pregnancy to the arrival of a precious newborn and more.
